About Jen
Jen Hong (洪慧珍) is a dancer, choreographer, movement teacher and healer based in Los Angeles, CA. She is well-versed in numerous dance forms and completed her MFA in experimental choreography at UC Riverside. She is interested in the intersection of art, dance, anatomy/physiology, and individual/collective healing.
Her work is influenced by Anna Halprin, the diaphragmatic breath of Carl Stough, and Frey Faust, founder of the Axis Syllabus Research Meshwork, with whom she is a Teacher Candidate.
Jen is an initiated student of the Teacher/Wong Loh Sin See of the Chee Choong Temple, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, a Daoist/Buddhist practice, and synthesizes spiritual, artistic, and scientific elements into her practice and performance work. She currently teaches yoga and co-facilitates the Santa Monica Contact Improv Jam and has taught CI as a guest lecturer at UCLA, CalArts, CSULA, USC Gloria Kaufman, and Pieter Space. She is also a board member of East Bay Health.
